With taxi drivers, too, feeling the heat of the current economic downturn as commuters watch their spending, the Taxi Operator's Association is devising three strategies to help cabbies cope.

One is riding on upcoming festive events to improve the demand for cabs. For a start, the association is working with the Land Transport Authority to set up more temporary taxi stands at the River Hongbao and in Chinatown during the Chinese New Year festive period.
